John Siracusa is at it again! He's reviewed panther!
Trainiable is to cat as ability to live without food is to human.

A very thorough review, as usual, but nothing surprising. The stuff he doesn't like about OS X has remained the same: the Finder, metadata, etc. What he likes about Panther is the stuff everyone else likes too: Fast User Switching, Expose, etc.

It's an enjoyable read, though. Siracusa has always been a very good writer.

Whoa, that's one hell of a review. As others said, there isn't really anything we didn't know already, except this: Automatic file de-fragmenting (news to me anyway).

sorry for not reading that entire thread, but did anyone ever find evidence that this code they found is actually being called? I mean, Journalling code was in there for a while without ever being turned on... it just looks like they found some code in the kernel and assumed it was an unannounced-but-still-included feature.

Ars needs to do something about their color scheme, orange on black? Not nessesarily from estherics PoV, but it hurts to read ... didn't read the whole review (just the conclusion) ... basically, same quibbles as with Jaguar with some things fixed and improved (i.e. Open/Save dialogs).
