Is this possible? I know that Ryan is working on Xpostfacto, I just was curious if anoyne else has a workaround.

First I must say that I haven't tried this, but a friend of mine says that he installed Panther on an external FireWire drive and that it would boot when connected to a platinum G3 with a FireWire card. If true, it might then be possible to use a different Mac to install Panther on your hard disk and then transplant it into the G3. As for how well it will run, well, you're on your own.

Well, I tried doing just that -- except that I popped the drive back in on the ATA bus, since I don't have a FireWire card on my beige G3/300. No dice; it dropped into Open Firmware on boot. When I booted into OS 8 and specified the Panther partition as my startup disk, I just got the flashing question mark.

Here's hopeing XPostFacto comes out soon . . .
