I noticed after clean installing Panther on 3 different machines that the Pageouts went from a few hundred to many thousands over the course of a few days. Since installing 10.3.1 update last night Pageouts around 12 since then....definately an improvement, anyone notice this?

No, but I did just notice that the one Swapfile created on bootup is now 64 mb instead of 73 mb.

Sorry, this doesn't tell you anything
What caused the pageouts? Probably an app that grabbed a lot of RAM. Did you run iPhoto at any time since you rebooted last?

I think the 64Mb VM size was there in 10.3. One program that seems to destroy my ram, is MlMac, on launch, my memory goes from 768MB to 10.7MB, not fun. lol

Paging evidently works differently in 10.3 (due to the convergence with BSD 5.5(?)) - the first few swapfiles are indeed 64MB, but then they increase in size. Currently on my system:
swapfile 0 and 1 are both 64MB
swapfile 2 is 128MB
swapfile 3 is 256MB
Presumably swapfile 4 will be 512MB and so on.
