This has been driving me crazy. I have things set up so that from my networked PC I can access my Mac's /Users/~mycomputer directory, which works fine. What do I do though if I want to be able to access an external drive on my Mac from the PC? I can't seem to get to anything outside of my /User/~mycomputer directory. Thanks for any help!

SharePoints 3.2.1 seems to work. It appears to be a GUI editor for /etc/smb.conf. It's available at VersionTracker.
