You know the famous "Shift-key" slow-mo thing? It works on Finder windows, minimized windows, and Expose. But I've found another way it can be used: Shift click the toolbar "pill" widget in System Preferences, and watch the toolbar slide up slowly. This does not seem to work in other apps. I'm using 10.3; it may or may not work in 10.2 or earlier. Another trick, this time more useful: Shift+Command click the toolbar widget. It moves through the options for toolbar type & size in reverse.
Trainiable is to cat as ability to live without food is to human.

Yea that shift slow-mo option is here and there. You can also shift-Click System Preferences and watch them change in slow motion. Also iTunes functions such as browse and the album art can be seen in slow motion. It seems that it is on a per app basis.

Strange that it applies to some applications' toolbars and not others. Eg, it does not work in Camino or Mail. I would have thought Apple would have built it into the API, rather than individual applications.

If you notice the way the toolbar minimizes in applications such as mail is different from the way it minimizes in sys. prefs. Seems like there's more than one API's being used by various apps. One using QE, and others not.

Here's a little trick to amaze your friends and annoy your enemies:

1. Right-click (or control-click, or click-and-hold) on an icon in the Dock, so the Dock menu pops up. Leave it there.

2. Press F9, or whatever your Exposé key is, a bunch of times in a row. If you're feeling cruel, hold shift and press the Exposé key a bunch of times.

If you're playing a prank, this is when you walk away, leaving your victim's computer waiting for them.

When you click to undo the Dock menu, you have the whole stack of Exposé keys waiting in a queue, so you get a hypnotic back-and-forth effect. If you held shift, you can really aggravate someone while they wait for their Mac to be usable again.

Try it!
