Since updating to 10.3.1 I can no longer access Fast User Switching. The names appear in the corner, but when clicked they just blink out and back.

Even worse, when I go to System Preferences and click on 'Accounts,' System Preferences suddenly quits. Nothing else in System Preferences cause it to quit...just 'Accounts.'

Anyone else experience this? Or know how I can fix it?

Very odd. It it certinaly woking okay for me in 10.3.1, so it's not a universal "10.3.1 broke user switching" issue, but probably just something specific to your setup.

Can you create a new Mac OS X user, then log out, and log in as the new user? Does Fast User Switching work for that user?

If so, it's something specific to your account. You might want to try moving/deleting preferences in your ~/Library folder, or something.

Yea, I've searched some other boards and haven't seen anyone with this problem. Just wondering now how I can fix it.

I can't even create a new account since everytime I try to lauch the 'Accounts' option it quits. Any advice is appreciated.

Well, try deleting the preferences and cache files for System Preferences. If that doesn't work, you may have to dig in with NetInfo Manager to see if something became screwed up in your user account.

You can try renaming the (global) /Library directory (eg, to /Library.bak) and then log out and log in again. That will test if there is some global preference problem.

You can try the same with your accounts ~/Library directory.

Note that after doing either of these things, you will have lost a lot of preference settings. However, they can easily be recovered by name the directory back again (after deleting the new one that gets created automatically).
