I've been having some strange behavior on my iBook running Panther (10.3.1). After a while (currently showing 1 day uptime) the following items in the Apple menu no longer respond: About This Mac, Force Quit, Restart, Shut Down, and Log Out. Choosing any of these results in no reaction whatsoever, no matter which app is in front when I do so. Also, the power button no longer brings up the sleep/restart/shutdown/cancel dialog. Has anyone had this?

I think these things are handled by the loginwindow process, but I haven't tried killing that because that would force me to log out.

I can reboot using the terminal command, but that's about it. Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem and I discovered that it has to do with my local copy of iDisk. The minute I turned it off I don't have that problem anymore.

Interesting. I had my iDisk stored locally. I just turned it off, but that didn't restore my ability to log out, etc. Did you have to reboot after disabling your local iDisk?
