I updated Jaguar to Panther, and all have working perfect...
Well, almost all...
First, I thank that the problem was Stuffit. I was very happy with Stuffit Deluxe 6.5.1, then I never updated to 7.0 or to 8.0 versions.
When I tried to download Windows Media 9, it was a .sitx and I needed to download Stuffit Expander 8. The downloads didn't work, with .sit and .dmg extensions.
But I was trying to update some applications to Panther compatible versions, and 90% of the downloads don't finish, or finish with more size than the announced, of finish with the correct size but with the data fork damaged...
And when I want to expand or mount, it appears a "An IO error ocurred. (-1) or another error messages"
It happens too when I download .pdf and other formats.
What can I do?
I repaired permissions, repaired the volume, delete some preferences, but nothing fix the problem...
When I switch to another user, the downloads work a bit better: 30% of the downloads works, and the rest don't.
Thanks in advance!!!

Did you install the stuffit 8 update? Not sure if that'll solve it, but I know that 8 had problems with sitx files.

If you are running OS X 10.3, you have stuffit 7.03 already. If not download stuffit expander from alladinsys here:
http://www.stuffit.com/mac/expander/index.html
Should solve your problems. 6.5.1 cannot handle latest compressions.

Thanks, Rezonate and Mcsjgs.
But my problem is not with Stuffit, but with my downloads, that "don't finish, or finish with more size than the announced, of finish with the correct size but with the data fork damaged...".
I hope for more help... Thanks!!!

Hmm, that is kinda strange Not sure if this will have any effect, but in the prefs. for Safari, under general, turn off 'Open Safe files after downloading'. Might be worth a try.

Over 100,000 Iraqis -dead. Over 200,000 Afganis - dead. and counting...
All dead based on lies fed to an uninformed public, to manipulate them into not seeing the true agenda. All dead in the name of protecting US interests. Not one single thing these hypocrites tells us is based on truth. Not one thing.
