How can I setup X11 to start blackbox, or whatever other WM I choose to have start instead of TWM? I thought it woould be a .xinitrc in my home directory, but there was none there. BTW, I have blackbox installed via fink, and I use /opt instead of /sw. thanks in advance!

Actually, the default is the quartz-wm. It works like any other X11 install. If you have a local .xinitrc, it uses it. If not, then it uses the system default.

Just copy the system on to your home directory and modify it to suit your needs.

Code:
[dshaw@MetalGear ~] cp /private/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc ~/.xinitrc [dshaw@MetalGear ~] chmod u+w .xinitrc [dshaw@MetalGear ~] vi .xinitrc
At the end is an "exec" where you specify your window manager.

Once you have .xinitrc in your home directory, edit it:

change exec quartz-wm to-
quartz-wm --proxy-only

the add-

exec blackbox
