One of the more annoying Finder issues is when I go to save a file the Finder dutifuly opens a Finder window. I work my way through the Finder and find the folder or create the folder I wish to save to. I then clck save only to have the Finder window close immediately behind the save action. Thanks, but I'd like to see my saved file before the window closes. I always find myself reopening the Finder to check to see if the file was saved to the proper place or named correctly. Am I unnecessarily obsessive or is this just normal human behavior? I don't trust myself enough to name a file correctly all the time. How many times have I typed a file name and saved only to discover an "unidentified file" has been saved?
Lot's. When I save a file I wish the Finder window would stay open and wait for me to confirm my files name and placement. I dan close the window at my leisure..

errr... when I save a file, a Finder window does not open. A save dialogue opens. It just so happens that the Panther save dialogues have a lot in common with Finder windows, and look rather similar (which is what so many people wanted). Then you click the OK or SAVE button (Finder windows do NOT have OK or SAVE buttons) and the dialogue is dismissed.
Same as it has always been since Macintosh started (at least since I've been using Macs with System 6). The only difference is that now Save windows look a bit more like Finder windows.

Yes, that's not a Finder window, that's a save dialog.
After saving you can hold down the command key (with the Apple) and click the title in the document window. You will get a popup window that allows you to open the Finder window where the document is in.

Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Well the save window doesn't close until you click save. So, you have all the time in the world to check your spelling, your placement, your file type etc.
As for your request, to my knowledge you've never seen the file before saving with a mac OS. Not sure why you'd want to see the file appear, it's there, learn to trust your computer.
Now using a PC on the other hand....

Thanks for the correction guys. I sometimes forget what "classic" was really like. I booted up "classic " which I've had no need lately and took a ride. The save dialog did indeed close upon saving which in my minds eye had behaved differently when saving. It was nice to get so many responses. I'll take care to be more thoughtfull next time....
