I'm currently running the latest version of virtual pc on a 867Mhz G4. It's better than the previous version of VPC, but it's still kinda slow.

I'm wondering...how much does it improve on one of the new G5 machines....is there a noticeable improvment in speed?

Currently VirtualPC does not run on G5s unfortunately. Microsoft is supposedly working on an update to fix this, but they haven't given a timeline as to when we'll see it.

Bochs however does although I have no idea of how fast it runs. I don't think it has been heavily optimised for the G5.

Bochs is painfully slow on any machine. It's not built for speed, it's built for portability.
