So, I was pressing the wrong buttons, and I pressed "Apple-Tab"
What in the heck is that?

Holding the apple key down, you can tab between open programs. Remarkably ugly but works.

Command-tab is an application switcher. It's been there since OS 9, but not in such an in-your-face manner.

So how do you switch between app's?
I actually prefer this implementation, but the selected icon appearance is a little ugly.
And I just noticed the icons aren't live! wtf! I'm selling my Mac ;-)

Actually, I happen to think it looks good.

Looks great, I say. And farking HUGE. Scared the heck out of me at first.
What is needed now is a similar document switching scheme.

I'm pretty sure that's what Exposé is for.

Use the dock to switch between applications.
Use Expose to switch between application windows.

You mean like Apple - Tilde? (~)
That works in several apps.

It is a bit different, actually. As far as I am aware, with exposé one cannot switch documents within an application without resorting to the mouse or trackpad.
Cmd + ~ will suffice, then.

Use the arrow keys after using command-tab to select the application.

F9, then arrow keys. Excellent. Close enough. Thank you.
