apologies if this is old news:

having a lowly pismo and early G4 i'm lacking the necessary graphical bollox to enjoy the 'cube effect' when doing fast user switching in panther. however, all is not lost. i've just been using image capture to get some snaps of me camera and guess what?... in image capture's progress window, as the images download, the display of each subsequent thumbnail uses a cube effect transition.

i don't feel left out anymore!

You know what? In Keynote you can have the cube effect work FULL SCREEN without Quartz Extreme... Now, why did they leave this out of the system?

Keynote only has to composite two flat images. It doesn't have to composite loads of windows and menubars and whatnot on the screen.

It's mainly limited by your vram. Try setting your res to, like, 800x600 in _both_ users. Then try switching...it may very well work, because a lower resolution uses much less vram.

And all us FUSers will invite you up to the penthouse to party with us ^_^
