Hi,
I installed fink 0,6,2 and fink commander in panther. For some reason I
can only install packages from source, and binary installation is not
selectable within the fink commander menu. How could I solve the
problem? Thanks a lot for your help.

i have that problem
and it says it self updates, and to re-enter my command again, then it does it again, and again, and again....
so far it wont do nuthin for me

on a side note, my friend has installed it on a couple of macs, no problem, and his g4 starts the x-server at boot, no apple x11 but it still uses the quartz window manager, its pretty slick

I had this problem too, until I did "sudo apt-get update"

It does some small update, and then the binaries can be installed (i used fink commander for that)
