On OS 9 you could set the F1-9 (or so) keys to open specific programs/switch between them. When I tried setting up the Keyboard Shortcuts in the same manner it didn't work on OS 10.3.1. What I want is for F1 to open my Internet browser, F2 to open AIM, and F3 to open iTunes.

Is there anyway to make it like that, as it was in OS 9?

Fudge... you have to pay for it.

Why does it seem as all these abilities which were native to OS 9 are now pay only things... Gah!

Heh, I did... I was posting that when you did so I didn't see it at the time.

Also, currently it XKey doesn't work with Panther... at least the thing didn't work when I tried to install it and that's what his website said.

But he did say that he was going to work on it, so I'm hopeful. Thanks for getting me the link, maybe in a few weeks he'll have it working on 10.3

keyboard maestro is both freeware and shareware. you only have to pay for the advanced features, not what you are looking for.

I'm a big fan of KM.
