I have 3 user accounts on my ibook, and all get used. Recently on one of them I enabled the Language menu (is that whats its called) in the apple menu because thats the only way to access Key Caps now. In adition to Key Caps, theres another palette you can bring up called Character Palette. I used that one. Now every time I choose log out from the apple menu (don't have to actually log out) and every time I actually log in, the character palette comes up all by itself. Only on this one account though. Its the one I use the most, so this is driving me nuts. I threw away a prefs file that looked like it belonged to the palette, but it had no effect. Anyone know how to get rid of this thing?

I had that same problem. I had to go into the Sys Prefs and under the International Pane>Input Menu, uncheck the 'Character Palette' box. That seemed to solve the 'appearing palette' problem for me.

Heh. I have a related problem. I use Spell Catcher (formerly of C&G), which has to be activated in the International preference pane - Input Menu, also. And, when I switch users, a Spell Catcher dialog shows up saying, "I need to select text for this to work, bla, bla".

This happens regardless of where I have the menu item positioned on the bar relative to the FUS name.

For now, I just put up or turn it off.

regards,
MAJ

Yeah I've got the same damn problem and it also appears after waking the computer up. (FYI: I use the authentication feature for waking up). I deactivated it in the System prefs but it still appears.

Looks like it's not an isolated issue. Apple Support.
