I have been waiting for a real Guitar Tuner for OS X for some time now. There are plenty of tuners that play a note that you can then match but nothing similar to the hardware tuners that are out there. In OS 9 I used both of the tuner apps at this site:

Some of you may remember it.

They were extremely accurate. More so than any of my hardware tuners and did a beautiful job.

Is there anyone out there that would be willing to take on the task of programing something similar?

I have the drive to do it but I'm not a programmer. And I don't have the time while teaching 2nd 3rd and 4th grades at my school. But I would be very willing to help, in the testing of the app, in hosting the app's site (I have my two reseller accounts on a very good host), and in the design/look of the app. I have done a variety of design work during the summers when I'm not teaching.

I think it would be great to get something going as this is a need in the guitar playing mac community that is not being met. I don't even care if it ends up being open source of shareware. I just want something!

Just realized this should really be in the Software forum. Could an admin move it for me please?

Sorry about that.

Not sure if this helps, but with Logic Platinum, there is an AU plugin (which might just be a free download from the emagic site - this plugin IS an extra) which does in fact display the not that you are playing. I haven't really tried it out as a guitar tuner, but I think it might actually work. All you have to do now is find an app that is AU functional, and more importantly, see if you can find a legal download of that plugin...

sorry i'm not more useful.
