Does this work? I heard that it doesnt and wanted to hear it from more people. I heard that you cant burn CDs or DVDs from programs like iTunes,iMovie etc. Will this problem get fixed in 10.3.1 or 10.3.2?

Hi Poison,

I'm reading between the lines here, but Teac had a model DV-W50D which was an OEM model of the Pioneer DVR-106D. Basically the same drive as the Pioneer with Teac firmware. There are two ways I can think of to make it work with Panther, editing the disk recording frameworks drive support file or putting the Teac drive into a PC and then re-flashing the firmware to the original Pioneer one. I'd favour the last option then you'd have full iTunes / iDVD etc support without needing a hack every OS update.

If you dont already have the Teac drive, then its easier to get the retail Pioneer '106.

If I read between the lines wrongly, ignore what I said!!

You understood what i meant =)

The problem is that i already purchased the Teac superdrive. Ohh and the teac was 100$ cheaper than the pioneer. I dont want to flash it and edit frameworks so it looks like ill use toast =)) Hope they upgrade the firmware so i can use it with itunes and other programs.

How much does it cost where you live . Here in slovenia it did cost me about 150 EUro.

Glad I understood!

I think the Teac is/was available in uk for about £80gbp which is quite close to 150 euros.

It is unlikely that Teac will release firmware which identifies the firmware as a Pioneer, so flashing it may be your only option. You can find some info here
