I have about 5 different domains I bought through Register.com, all pointing to my server. All is great but I decided to try one of those $7 domains, and surprise, i own the domain but I have to use my own name servers to make it point to an IP. This isn't too bad though since I run OS X Server on my server, and already have my name server turned on for other uses. But it has no configurable options through the GUI. I'm hoping someone can hook me up with the easiest, simplest way to add a domain and the IP it points to. So I can start using this domain for the site thats already set up and waiting.

Was that useful or a waste of time?

I didn't actually try it, someone I talk to walked me through a quick setup, but I have been unable to check it because the site I bought it from gives me errors when I try to set my server as the name server for my domain. And their customer service is a joke. I learned my lesson, stick with register.com.

i think i'll stick to register.com, its $35 for one year, but after that you can renew at discounts, I do two years at $52, $26 a year for a domain isn't bad, especially when it works. Plus you get all the MX stuff for mail too.

you didn't go to their site did you? they do MX as well and it's $32.95/yr. if you saw the no-ip+ interface you'd be stoked.
