Who else has had problems with HP's deskjet drivers in 10.3? Mine will not read saved print settings... and considering that the saved printer settings files are correct at the resourse level, I'd say its HP's problem not Apple's...

And they've had this problem in OS X in every driver revision since 2.1.

my workaround: Downgrade to 2.0f and everything works fine.

I downloaded the latest ones (2.3.1 I think) and they work great for me.

The only complaint I have about the new HP drivers is that I can't figure out how to make my 932c print in draft mode anymore.

Any ideas?

I have an HP PSC750. it still "works" after upgrading to Panther, but I have no idea where to find the print quality settings anymore. They don't seem to be under any of the menus in the print dialog. The "Output Options" menu seems like a likely place, but that only lets you choose whether to print to a file or to the printer.

I haven't yet tried getting newer drivers from HP. I'm using the driver that got installed with Panther.

It's under Paper Type/Quality in the menu.

What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.

I also have HP/ OSX.3.1 problems!

I have a HP PSC750xi and a Hp Photosmart 1215 both connected with a USB hub, and the PB does not recognize the photosmart printer driver. It shows no usb driver installed... says newer driver available and returns and says no driver installed. the PSC750xi is recognized under AIO(all in one) driver.....

Any ideas?

From what I've heard, the HP AIO drivers are still in progress...

Up until September, for a period of 3 years, I represented HP in retail stores as a vendor representative. In that time frame drivers from HP have always been problematic. The problem here is that HP does not take the Macintosh seriously enough to provide decent drivers. In fact, my bosses boss, simply said not to worry about Mac's. He was perfectly ok in telling us not to push our products out to Mac owners.

I currently own an HP 5650 printer and a Scanjet 5500. Both devices work but the drivers definitely have issues and the two seem to interfere with each other. At this point I wouldn't recommend HP products until HP takes this portion of the market seriously.

I think you mean it used to be in the menu:

It's not there anymore in the drivers that came with Panthaar.

that is deeply strange... try downgrading your drivers to what used to work (2.0f is usually good)

Harumph.

Well, I think I'm pretty much done with inkjets. I figure I'll pick up a cheapo Brother 1440 L at Staples tomorrow and just use the deskjet for printing color photos (which, since the iPhoto Kodak thingy, I don't really need to do anyway).

Didn't this come bundled already with 10.3?

I've found HP drivers to be horrible for Mac or PC. They might make some of the best printers but they write crap for drivers. If you can't get it to work with their drivers, you can always try Gimp-print although you don't have as much flexiblity with those.
