Here is the problem. For some reason when I go to save anything there is an extra "Desktop" folder in the sidebar. I have experimented with saving files to this extra desktop folder. I can save files to it, but when I search for the saved files, Finder doesn't locate them.
Any ideas on how to get rid of this extra desktop folder or how it got there in the first place?
Thanks,
R

You probably want to check the Finder's sidebar preferences.

OK, I figured it out. All one needs to do if they want to add or remove anything from the sidebar is to find the com.apple.sidebar thingy and put it in there (or remove it from there.)
Indeed, I have two instances of a desktop in their. I deleted them both, then reset my preferences in the finder sidebar preferences thingy
Thanks.
