Just wondering if there are any users here. Is it worth the $25 dollars? Are the widgets practical, or just fun? And does it work well with Panther?
Any feedback appreciated, thanks!

In general I would say it's hard to justify $25 for it, but for you personally I would say it's well worth it. It has several widgets that do exactly what you need, so it's a great time saver for you.

You can get many of these functions as free software. If you need them you have to answer yourself of course. And then this would belong in the Software forum.

The widgets were cool but I never found any of them useful enough to buy Konfabulator.

If you like to fill your screen with useless information to show your friends how cool you are then go nuts.

I thought Konfabulator was seriously cool.
For about 2 days...
And after no more than a week, I never used it again. Just got bored of it. Sure, there are many cool looking widgets. But 99% of them are next to useless or are simply out performed by better/more efficient utilities. It's essentially just eye candy..
Not only that, I find the longer it's been running, the more CPU oomph it starts to hog. Could be badly made widgets, I dunno. But it rapidly became a real problem on my none too slow Macs.

If you want to support the developers that leech off everyone else's work, go right ahead. I like how the provide a parser and a few hooks into the OS and call it Konfabulator, which is practically worthless on it's own. The only way you MIGHT get functionality worth paying for is having some other developer create a widget, and he'll never see a dime. It's an outrage, if you ask me. $25??

I remember all sorts of idiots were registering it before it was even out based on hype. Guess what is what you do with your money when you don't go on dates

You could try it for a bit and see if you think it's worth it.

Konfab is only worth the money if you find a widget you can't live without. I personally never found one that I couldn't live without. Also because they live on the desktop as opposed to the dock or the menubar, they often get hidden so they are unusable... Finally they seem to give the system a decent performance hit. Not a big deal on a G5 but on modest hardware, it's noticable.

Like everyone here has said in one form or another, even at half the price, Konfab really isn't wroth the money, especially considering as an app, it doesn't do anything. They are making money off the ability for developers to make really sweet widgets. But other then graphically, the widgets aren't really innovative or useful.
As you ca see, there are many reasons not to pay for Konfab.

Give the date thing a rest fag. Putting down others so you can feel better about yourself is getting old fast.

Calling people fags is old. Follow your own advice. You might also want to run a spell check on your sig.

Can you actually say that in here? I'm a little surprised to be honest...

I never found one I could live WITH. It's just the thing for the "I can't even program in RealBasic" crowd.

Why not? It's not ****'d out. What's so bad about calling someone a fag instead of a füçktard (that word seems very popular around here)?

Ah. Guess im a little behind in the times. You have a replacement?
Thanks for the heads-up on the spelling. I thought I had it right. Should be now. That whole i before e thing always gets me.

I love Konfabulator... I bought it the day it came out... I run 7 widgets all the time (one being one I may and another being one I help make).
My open widgets have both fun and practicle funcitons. I thought it was well worth it...

You could not register it before it was launched.
I suppose you didn't pay for the movies you seem to be a fan of, what a waste of money to watch films, to buy candy, etc.
I do not know why but you seem to have some kind of strong hate against Konfabulator or their developers for some unknown reason (at least for me). Try to explain that or be less "flamable".

Ok children, since we can't discuss the value of an application in a mature fashion and it seems some of us have a personal vendetta against others, this topic is a goner.
Play nice.
