Tried Panther on 12 and 15inch PBs in store yesterday. On both machines clicking 'more info...' on 'About This Mac' screen didn't run the system profiler. Button just glowed blue as it was clicked.

A machine running 10.2.4 next to the ones on display ran the profiler correctly.

Is this a known panther bug? waiting for Apple to deliver new 12inch!

not a panther bug - some problem with those two machines.

Yeah sounds machine specific. I wonder if they set up the machines with a standard user with limits. They may have banned access to the utilities folder.

Ah that might be it. I noticed a lot of the sys prefs were greyed out too suggesting they were available only to administrator.

But why would the sys profiler be blocked to normal user? What's so revealing that an Administrator would want to hide!
