which is better? i think fontbook is kinda slow, sigh, does anyone else think so? how many fonts can you have active b4 the system starts responding really slow? plz help, and does anyone know a good site to dl fonts for the mac?

Fontbook is totally useless. Suitcase is buggy but works better overall.

Have you got more then say 10 fonts?
If you have then Fontbook will be slow and useless. Try one of the alternatives mentioned above.

I have 246 fonts. It works great for me. Of course, I'm not a publishing pro and don't need more than a couple o' dozen fonts anyway.

I used fontbook with 250+ fonts and it was not slow for me. I had absolutely zero complaints about fontbook other then lack of instant activation. I'm not sure why some users have issues with Suitcase or fontbook, I use Suitcase 10 (won't pay for the latest crap upgrades) but had no issues with fontbook. If you are managing no more then few hundred and can set your fonts up in sets, and have it where you aren't turning off and on everyday, fontbook is more then adequate.
