Could you perhaps expand on that and give us examples? Have you submitted feedback via Apple's site?

No, this is not the case unless your setup is messed up in some way. Try deleting your Safari preferences.

There is NOTHING wrong with Panther's version of Safari.

Forgive me for forgetting… it's been a couple months on Panther and I don't recall what changed except Panther compatibility.

What extras did 1.1 add?

Enough of nothing, so that Camino again kicks Safari's ass . Sorry, but the latest Camino nightlies are really nice. Safari is almost out of the dock again. Try the latest Camino instead of wondering about 1.1. With the Google toolbar widget, the two are very similar for my needs.

Several of Safari's new features rely on APIs introduced in Panther, and therefore cannot be easily backported to Jaguar.

However, once again, Apple is under a legal obligation to release the source for WebCore (they're on somewhat shaky ground for having not done so already). Once that occurs, some enterprising person could work on backporting those features which can be backported, and releasing a patch for 1.0.

What shaky ground for not releasing? It's available here:

Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Oops; must have missed the announcement.

Can people confirm that this is the WebCore bring used in Safari 1.1?
