Hi,
I recently installed Panther on a Powerbook 12" G4 and seem to be having problems with Mail that I did not have with my ibook and 10.2.8.
The behaviour is erratic, but when clicking on certain emails - I thought it was just HTML emails, but now it seems to be random - or opening it:

a) The email will show its content to be blank or only partially download (yes, I have tried clicking and unclicking the show HTML preference)
b) Thereafter, Mail semi-freezes up - ie, I can click onother mails but the highlighted one is not the one displayed, I click and no action, clicking over mailboxes makes them bold but does not open them, and finally it all degenerates and the cursor freezes up. The only way to unfreeze is to Quit mail each time and start again.
During all this the spinning doover in the top right hand corner of the window just .. spins...

I admit I installed straight over 10.2.8 in ignorance, and experienced a few problems. I read the forums and did an Archive and Install as recommended, stil problems, then went through a process of creating a new admin login and trashing the old one which helped a little, repaired disk permissions and disk several times...
Any advice appreciated...

And if you are going to recommend a clean install, please tell me exactly how you do that...

Late breaking news: the Mac Help doesn't work - in or outside Mail, the Help window is completely empty except for the search window... when type in a phrase to search on, it brings back a list in order of relevance but clicking on any item doesn't do anything...
