Am creating .pdf s using OSX 2.6's print to pdf function from InDesign docs, when I send them as attachments to wintel users they cannot open them. Have used apple double, mime and uuencode formats.
If any one can give suggestions, I will be very grateful.

If everybody used MACS, the world would be a better place

wow ok - you've got a lot of issues going on here.

(1) can you open the .pdfs on your machine?
(2) can users you send attachments to open other attachments you send them?
(3) what do you me can't open them? There are no attachments? The right program doesn't open? The .pdf displays incorrectly? They get an error when they try to open the .pdf?
(4) have you made sure to save the .pdf with a .pdf extension?

It's very unclear where the problem is - whether it's in the .pdf, or in the email.

Also, it's not MACS. It's macs or Macs, and not OSX 2.6 but 10.2.6 or OS X 10.2.6.

I know from experience that wintel machines are fussy with respect to file names, ie, no 'wierd' characters, dashes, etc.

try paring down the file name of that pdf to something short..letters-only.

see if that helps

Why don't you use InDesign's built-in PDF export, rather than the OS's print-to-PDF function?
