i just upgraded to a new HD in my imac . I did a clean install of osx 10.3
and now want to install os 9.2 for classic support . I get 2 messages . 1 that the qt program will not work with os 9.2 and message 2 is takes me to the classic control panel , in the window it shows the os 9 install cd and my 40 G.B. hd. I wont let me select the HD because its read only.???
That's as far as i get . I've tried to boot from the os 9 cd but that don’t work either

I believe are having this problem because you did not install the Mac OS9 drivers when formatting the drive. I do not know of any way to update the drive with OS9 drivers short of erasing it and starting over but I don't claim total knowledge. If you just want to run classic and not boot in to OS9, you should be able to just copy a system over from another computer via firewire or even from a CD-RW.

Will you computer boot from the 9 CD but not let you install, or will it not boot?

The QT problem is a non-issue. you can update it once you get 9 running (booting) or ignore it in classic.

What model Mac do you have? If it's a recent one, then it won't boot from the CD by design. You'll have to either run the Software Restore discs that came with your computer, or otherwise extract the OS 9 system contained on those discs. Do a search in this forum for instructions on doing that.

So i stared over with loading os 9.2 and then os 10.2
