This is getting reallz annoying. In Photoshop some of my keys do not seem to work. I am thinking it is probably the Command (Apple) key that is not working. I cannot just hit Command+O, or the key combo to zoom in/out...it stopped working. I have to manually select those options from one of the menus.

What is going on here? All, the other software behave nicely, but PS.

There is something else. I can drag any graphics file on top of the PS icon in the dock, it will not open it. Photoshop will become the foreground app, but will not open the file. Argh!

Thanks,

t

After some digging on the Adobe forums I found the solution. Let's start with the file opening:

"We've been able to reproduce the problem by installing PS CS to 10.2.8 and then using archive and install to install Panther on that volume.

The file Adobe Unit Types is not getting copied over when the system gets updated, and without this file both drag and drop and double-clicking on files fails to open them in PS.

Either re-install the application or copy the existing file to the following location:

<Panther volume>\Library\Scripting Additions\

For those that are experiencing this issue, please let us know if the file is missing on your system, and if replacing it takes care of this problem."

Now to the shortcut...you have to download an extension that fixes the incompatibility between Panther and PS shortcuts. It can be found on Adobe's website.

Interestingly, my 'Shift' Key does not work properly in Quark 6 on Panther. For instance, if I want to Shift-Align a picture box, visually when I drag the box it does not hold it's alignment, but when I let up on the button it snaps into place to the desired physical location. Very difficult when your shift-aligning in small places. Haven't yet found a cure.
