The little birdies (Macintosh:1 regs) are saying that work has started on Charla 3 though I can't confirm.

Charla 1.6.4 seems to work well enough for me. I use one of the 1.6.4 variants here (shameless).

fire is different. I would like to go in to chat rooms. Also why would they make charla 3 when 2 isnt even working. Should'nt they fix 2 before they work on 3.

I'd rather get a solid Charla3 than a band-aid covered (or bloated) Charla2. And sometimes it just makes sense to ditch old, crusty code, so that you can build a better foundation.

1.6.3-1.6.4 are the current "supported" versions (read; they should get you into chat). 1.6.3 and 1.6.4 are pretty solid branches that should continue to work for a good while longer. Not the prettiest foundation but they've proven themselves.

I didn't really use Charla2 much. I just wanted to get in and chat in a room and for that, Charla1 worked just fine.

I'm familiar with 1.6.4 inside and out anyway. I didn't do the majority of the hard work (thanks Peter!) but managed to learn a lot while making an alternate/enhanced UI.

...Charla2's source is available so you can become part of "they" if you want. I'm sure Peter wouldn't mind if you (or someone you know) fixed Charla2 before he gets to that or Charla3.

I really don't know what I'm talking about though. All I've got are guesses, gossip, rumors and a modified Charla1.6.4.
