Since upgrading to Panther, I have noticed that iChat AV will intermittently disconnect. I don't have this issue at work when hard connected to the network but do see this happening when at home using my Airport network.

I have the bandwidth limit set in iChat preferences to "None" and am using a PowerBook.

I was curious whether using iChat AV with Airport may be the root issue. I only have a single IP address provided by my ISP. Because of this, I have the Airport set to send out multiple IP addresses using DHCP so multiple systems can be on line. Not sure if this causes any type of issue.

The interesting thing is that when I was using the iChat AV beta with Jaguar, this did not happen.

Any insight from anyone out there?

Thanks,

Paul

I was having this problem about 2 weeks ago it would disconnect about 10+ times a day. It seems like its much better now and only happens maybe once a week. It was very strange and super annoying.

I also had that issue for a day or two, but then it just stopped happening and iChat has worked perfectly since then. Can't really understand why...

yup, I had that too. I have a 1 mgbit line and I would get dropped in the middle of conversations (audio only) from time to time. At first I thought it was only when I was also surfing or using the bandwidth for something else but it has happened while doing nothing else.

Still no solution to the prob

I don't think it has anything to do with IChat, but the problem lies within the AIM infrastructure.

I have those problems about three times a day. Sometimes iChat can't even reconnect for a few minutes, which is really annoying. Maybe it has something to do with my campus firewall.
Does anyone have any idea what's causing this ?

Same problem with me. I have only noticed it at home on my desktop, connected via a standard ADSL line, without a fixed IP. At work on my powerbook, using a very fast LAN connection, I never seem to see it.

I can't understand why it happens but like you say it is very annoying.
