I have noticed a weird issue in Panther where plugged in devices stop working. It usually happens in iTunes - my SoundSticks stop working and my PowerMate stops glowing. The audio then plays out of the built in speaker of my G4 for a second, but then it goes back to normal.

This also happens on my powerbook. If I have headphones plugged in - the audio will go through the built in speakers.

There is the possibility of hardware problems here: bad cables, busted jacks, etc...

This happened to my mouse I would unplug and plug back in and everything would be fine but I dont have to do this since Panther specific drivers for my mouse came out.

I've got this problem with my keyboard under Jaguar. I think it's a hardware problem though (the keyboard's over 3 years old). I have to plug the keyboard into my tower's second USB port, and then back to the first to get it working again.

Try different ports and see what happens, but I'm willing to bet it's a hardware issue.

This is an issue that is specific to panther. it happens on both my laptop and tower.

It will happen on my laptop when the screen has shutoff and I move the mouse to turn it back on.

on my tower it has been happening randomly.

As far as moving the mouse... if it's an optical mouse and the light is out, moving the mouse won't make a difference. You have to push a button. This is, of course, with respect to waking from sleep.

Here is a strange one. I have an epson sc80 hooked to a cube running panther. After I plug in the cube the printer shows up in the print center. A few minutes later there are six of seven of them. I have deleted them all and it just keeps happening again and again. Worse yet the print queue gets stopped on some of them apparently at random, and cannot be restarted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I posted this in peripherals, and no response. Anyone else getting this problem. It seems related to the usb hiccup.
