It seems unbelievable but after a long time I dared to switch my energy saver for my monitor ON again. I had to switch it off with Panther 10.3.0 cause it made the mousepointer freeze to death. Read: everything works JUST the mousepointer is frozen and not even USB disco-reco could solve this.

Now my monitors are eating up all the energy I saved since 8.x ...

Any news to this? Why is Apple so F*** lame with this easy but annoying bug?

What non-standard apers, prefpanes, login apps do you have open?

How did you install 10.3?

ya, a second PCI card for my 2nd monitor. No special drivers needed for this one. AFAI recall: mouse freezes on both monitors....

why just since panther? I can't get rid of my 2nd monitor. But Apple could get rid of this bug.

I'm also getting regular freezes, often involving strange mouse snafus. Sometimes I can't move the cursor, but I *can* click. This is only evident if the cursor happens to freeze on top of something which visually responds to my clicks, like a dock icon.

I too have a second graphic card (Radeon PCI) in my MDD, so your post caught my eye.

However, there are LOADS of people reporting freezes under Panther which never happened with Jaguar. I reckon it's a bug with the upgrade, but of course, until I know for sure, I am trying to rule out any and all suspects. My second graphics card is close to the top of the list.

I'm getting more crashes under Panther than I did under OS9. A rock solid UNIX? I don't think so.
Lose money fast! Ask me how!

ya, crashes galore, rock solid bye bye. Especially the Finder crashes more than it opens windows. Try moving more than one icon around at the same time.

But as I have written before: simply switch off energy saver and the problem with the freezes is gone. Sad but true.

Sounds like it might be a problem with HW cursor support.

couldn't hurt to see if it's actually the second vid card that's causing it (take it out, and if the problem's fixed, there's your answer), then tell apple about it.

make sure to mention how to reproduce the bug, along with what you've done to remedy the problem, especially if it actually worked.
