Just like the topic says. Fast User Switching works fine, i just don't get the cube transition. Both displays are the same res for each user. On a G4 944 with GF4MX both displays are connected to this card.

I haven't tried it with only one display yet, but I'll report back when I do.

Is there a way to see if Quartz Extreme is on?

I know, it's not the end of the world that this isn't working. (I'm the only user of this computer ) It's just that I'd like to see it working.

If both displays are connected to the same card, then the VRAM of that card is split between the two displays. If each display then has less than the minimum necessary for Quartz Extreme (16MB) then QE is disabled for both.

I think the simple answer is that yes, if you have 2 displays (regardless of how much vram you have) you don't get the cube transition.

The even simpler answer is that you get the cube animation on your primary monitor while the second monitor merely fades (or just flips) between the two users. I know because I've tried it

Also consider your screen resolution. I used to have a graphics card with 32mb of vram. It would perform the fast user switching animation at 1024x768, but not 1600x1200, for instance. I later upgraded to a card with 64mb vram, and it is no longer a problem.

So, if you have a 64 mb card, and halve that...you have 32mb vram for each monitor, we know - and if the monitor that would show the FUS transition is set with too high of a res, you will not see anything. Try testing this theory out by switching to a lower resolution.

Ok, I tried changing the res down to 1024*768 for both displays. The primary had the cube the second faded. Thanks.
