Hi,

Just bought an OEM pioneer drive for in my DA 466mhz. Everything is working fine. Only software update is now reminding me of a superdrive update. I do have the newest firmware on the pioneer. Do I have to do this superdrive update, or just ignore it.

grtz Peter

Moved to OS X forums

pretty and well preserved piece, but to skid across the line broadside,
thoroughly used up, worn out, leaking oil, shouting GERONIMO!"

Sounds like you just answered your own question.

Software Update will give you a description of what the update does. Why don't you post that?

Just ignore it. I have the same drive and haven't touched it after a disaster with my 105 and Pioneer's firmware updates. If it ain't broke, don't break it

The Power Mac G4 SuperDrive Firmware Update installs new firmware on the SuperDrive which addresses an incompatibility with 4x DVD-R and 2x DVD-RW media, and the 2x SuperDrive in the Power Mac G4. You must perform this update if you intend to use 4x DVD-R or 2x DVD-RW media in your Power Mac G4. This update also enables you to eject audio CDs that are copy-protected or have mastering errors. This update is required only for the Power Mac G4 (Digital Audio), the Power Mac G4 (Quicksilver) and the Power Mac G4 (Quicksilver 2002) with an internal Apple SuperDrive.
If this is the description, it is safe to ignore it as it is only for the A03's and A04's. If you even try to run it, the program will inform you that your computer doesn't need it.
