Hi,

I guess the topic isn't really accurate. Here's my problem :

I have an iMac, and my slot-loading CD drive doesn't work anymore. So, I got an external CD drive (Lacie Firewire 52x), but I can't seem to install Mac OS 9 from the CD now. Nothing I tried succeded in making my iMac boot from the Mac OS 9 CD. I tried holding the option key down, selecting the CD in System Preferences:Startup Disk, and even booting into Open Firmware, to no avail.

Please help!!

Do you have the "Classic OS 9" drivers installed?

On my hard drive? I don't think so. But I want to boot from the CD, and the CD doesn't even show up in the list if I hold down the option key at startup.

Make a disk image of the OS 9 CD and install from it!

Thanks for the suggestion, but I would then need to *boot* from the disk image (which I don't think is possible).
