I just installed Panther last night (without a hitch).
The question:
How do I know what applications I can move from my OS9 applications to my OSX applications?
And once I determine which ones I can and can't move, can I just drag them into the OSX applications folder?
Specifically, FileMaker 5.5 and Photshop 5.5.
Thanks,
Brian

You can put Classic apps anywhere, as long as the app itself doesn't mind. Just try it out. I doubt many apps require that they be located in a specific place.

So if the app can run in OSX, it will run in OSX? And if the app needs Classic, it will launch Classic?

Yes. But if you want to find out what kind an application is without launching it, select it, then choose "Get Info" from the "File" menu. Under "General", Classic-only apps have kind "Classic Application", Native apps have kind "Application", and AC/DC apps have kind "Application" and a checkbox labelled "Open in the Classic environment".
Barney.

Yes. And it doesn't matter where on your disk the app is. So don't bother re-organizing unless you really feel like it. For instance, some people like to leave the OS X bundled apps (the iApps, System Preferences, Chess, Address Book, the Utilities, etc.) where they are, and put their own personal apps in their Home folder. (Note that if you do this those apps won't be available to other users on your computer.)
