I find it a bit hard to swallow that Sun is interested in making Java for as few Platforms as possible--I thought the whole purpose of their endeavor is to make Java available on as many platforms as possible?

And if Apple already has Java 1.4.2, why don't they just get it out the door? How many months of bug-testing will they do before they realize they are falling behind in an important market? (in particular I'm referring to scientific and enterprise customers, who often use java-based software and need the most up-to-date runtime environment)
