My file/folder icons are corrupted (some folder
icons showing up as disk images, excel files
looking like mp3s etc...). I restart the finder
and the icons return back to normal. I am
guessing the icons are cached some where
and are getting corrupted.

So where is the cache stored so I can delete it?

I'd like to know this myself. Panther does occasionally get confused about icons the way you describe (and I've had the Finder crash after previewing thumbnails on a couple hundred files - not always, but enough to be annoying).

I had that happening for a while, but recently it's cleared up...

My impression was that the latest system updates zapped the issue... are you up to date?

I have 10.3.1. I think the system update might
have just deleted that cache file. Thats why it seems to be fixed but I need to know which
one it is so I can delete it myself.
