Good Afternoon All,

I am VERY new to the Mac OSX 10.2x realm and am in dire need of help and suggestions. Coming next February, we will be purchasing all new G5s with Panther for our Advertising dept. On the PC side, we currently employ ghost to create and distribute images to the desktops. I have begun research on the MAC side and found that most people use Carbon Copy Cloner to create this images. Our network is only 10MB and we do not have a MAC Server, but instead just a simple file share that the MACs use. Does someone have any step by step instructions for the creation and deployment of images other than what is detailed on the homepage(http://software.bombich.com/ccc.html)? I need an explanation on very plain terms as I am not to familiar with this OS yet. Any personal help would be greatly appreciated. We plan on using an external firewire drive hold the bootable image that will be deployed. Also, how are serial numbers, computer naming, etc handled? On the PC side, we have used Sysprep to generate unique IDs. Is there something on the MAC side that's similar? Thanks in advance.

You can use a program call Carbon Copy Cloner (AKA CCC) It will allow you to clone an entire drive to another one or to CD Media. The Program is pretty simple to use. I'm not in front of my Mac at the moment to write you step by step instructions. YOu can get this program from www.macupdate.com, they will also have an explaination of the App and a link to the developers page where you can see screenshots and things to help you out.
