I've looked online and not found an answer to this problem I'm having.
Recently we purchased a Mirror Door PowerMac 1.25GHz, it came with OSX preinstalled and had 10.3 disks (software restore disks) in it. I was surprised they were included, and thought I would have to do the software-up-to-date program.
In any case, I decided to put a larger drive in the computer and install from the disks. It has an option to install the classic environment and apps. This machine *can* boot into OS9.
My problem is: In OSX, it cannot start the classic environment becuase of an error "Unable to update some resources".
I've tried:
- installing an os9 system from 9.21 retail CD
- putting in a drive from another computer with an OS9.22 system on it.
- tried copying over the network the 9.22 system onto the main OSX system drive and
- tried calling apple technical support
Their solution:
- try to update the drivers with os9 drivers (which I've done on the secondary drive I put into the computer) but don't remember if I did that for the drive with osx on it.
- since their hard drive update utility is specific to some models it would not run on mine, call the manufacturer of the drive (they WONT have an osx driver update for me, I'm sure and tried looking).
I'm not sure if this is really the hard drive firmware issue or something else. Does anyone else know how to get classic running? I CAN boot into the same drive and run OS9 without a problem. Its getting it running in OS9.
