Hi all.

Not sure whether this should go here or in peripherals. It appears that 10.3.2 broke the drivers for my Brother 1440. I've removed it from my printer list. I've re-downloaded and re-installed them, and it still doesn't show up in my printer list.

Edit: I neglected to mention that the printer is plugged into an AEBS, and that everything worked fine prior to 10.3.2. Broken on 3 Macs.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Scott

What driver did you use?

I had the brother driver installed prior to 10.3.2 and after the update it still works.

Exact opposite here, before 10.3.2 I couldn't add my 1440 hooked to an AirPort Extreme Base station in the print center. It would always come up with an error but now after 10.3.2 it works great. Have you power cycled the base station, and if that doesnt work reset it?

Hrm...

Well, it seems that rebooting the AEBS + power cycling the printer + plugging and unplugging it + holding my face just so + plus much swearing has done the trick!

Thanks!

I just thought I might hijack this thread for a moment and pass on my experiences with the Brother HL1440.

I print to a HL1440 using a cheapo Hawking Technologies print server (attaches directly to the parallel port on the printer) and Panther (all versions) broke printing to this printer using Foomatic and GimpPrint .

This was interesting since GimpPrint is now included with Panther. In addition the documentation says that "ESP Ghostscript" is included with Pantehr and no longer required.

To make a long story short, just for kicks, I installed Ghostscript from the gimpprint site and sure enough my printer was back in action.
