Since Direcway may be my only option for high(er) speed access, I'm interested in this.
I will be doing my homework, but your posts have me a little confused.
I have no idea what's up with IE...
You've answered your own question there (it's a crappy Microsoft program that isn't even being developed for the Mac anymore).
...but I wasted many hours talking to Direcway's infamous tech support (BAD!) in pursuit of a fix.
But... but... but... it was obviously
not a Direcway problem, in this case.
It's truly amazing how a company can exist with such a questionable product, horrendously terrible support and misleading advertising/pre-sales lies.
I hope you're not basing this opinion on your problem.
For instance:
I have not use IE since I switched to OS X in 2000. Would I have had the same experience with Direcway as you? (I'm guessing no- unless there have been other issues that you haven't mentioned in your threads)
It kind of reminds me of a client of my company's that was having connectivity problems. They spoke to our help desk and tech support and we could not find the source of the problem. They went so far as to accuse us of not knowing our jobs, paying a visit to the division manager, and bad-mouthing everyone who tried to help them. We finally sent a tech to their office, and after looking at their set-up, she discovered that a network cable was pinched.
I'm sure that this client would not recommend our services even though their problem had
nothing to do with our service. We never received an apology, either. (Didn't really expect one.) The experience left a bad taste in their mouths--- I could sympathize with their frustration, but they were just plain rude.
I guess what I'm saying is that your assessment of Direcway's service/tech support
may very well be accurate... but solely based on your posts, it's hard for me to tell.
BUT I STRONGLY recommend that you read the horror stories about Direcway on the various broadband forums before you subscribe.
I plan on it, thanx!
