I am working on a 2Ghz Dual G5 w/ 10.3.2 (I can't remember if I have the new G5 firmware) connected to the internet through an Airport modem talking to a DLink router. My computer is locking up when I am surfing the internet, forcing me to restart. Sometimes I can surf for 20 min; sometimes it locks on my first page.

I thought that it might be Safari, but was able to replicate in Camino. I thought that it might be Flash (it seemed to lock after surfing pages that include flash: ESPN.com; NBA.com), but I upgraded to the latest version of Flash and the problem hasn't been fixed. I have Konfabulator, Synergy, APE, Shapeshifter, and Nicecast running; but I turned all of those off and it still happens.

I haven't tried a "Safe Boot", but wouldn't that disable my ability to connect to the internet?

Ideas?
Thanks,
Chris

Try creating another user account and see if the problems persists. If they do, then it is not user specific. If it does work in the new account, then starting looking at your preferences plist files in ~/Library/Preferences as a possible cause.
I would not use APE myself, as it has caused me problems in the past, and with 10.3
I don't know about Synergy and Nicecast. You said you turned them off, but I myself would uninstall them.

I tried in another account; went to www.nba.com/sonics; clicked on their flash based score ticker; locked up. It seems closely tied to flash.

I tried to Safeboot, but it wouldn't do it. I hear the chime, hold down shift, and then it restarts again instead of continuing.

These are the types of sites that my computer is freezing on:

A story on http://www.cnet.com
A story on http://news.yahoo.com
A story on http://www.wired.com
Anything on http://www.NBA.com
Anything on http://www.espn.com
http://www.apple.com

It seems that pretty much any page that uses flash freezes up the machine. If I turn of java or take out all my internet plug-ins, it still freezes. I am unable to toggle my airport settings because once it freezes, all menues will hang the computer. The only thing functunal after the computer hangs is any applications that are open outside of my browser or browsers and the finder.

Maybe you should reboot the Internet.

Sorry, probably not appropriate but the thread title made me do it.

Have you installed an app like broadband optimizer, I had serious problems with my internet connection ( unpredictable speeds, sometimes fast sometimes slow ), I removed the app from the start up folder, rebooted and my internet was back to normal.

I just finished rebooting the Internet. Nothing changed. I hope everything is still okay for everyone in the world after that.

Hmmm, I think now I will check my Flex Capacitor and try to get it upto 10.1 Gigawatz.

Maybe I'm doomed...

Cruuuud!!!

Now I have a broken Flex Capacitor!

Maybe I should just get a computer that has a better Internet on it.

Seriously, I am going to try reinstalling Panther.

Chris.
