im on a 500mhz ibook, going from 10.1.2 to panther, (hopefully). went to boot off the installer, and i got this instead.



anyone know whats going on? i restarted, and now the installer seems to be booting. is my copy of the panther installer screwed? should i get another, or just go for it... do i need to install jaguar?

any help would be wondeful

I tried installing on my 500 and received the same kernel panic. Turned out to be a the "Home-Made" copy of Panther which came with my laptop off of E-Bay. Got my hands on an original and install was a breeze...

that the ibook 500 with 64 mb ram on the logic board? i didnt have this problem on the 500 with 128 on the board. and yes, they were copies of the install cds.
