Hey Everyone,
This may seem like a dumb question but again i'll remind you i'm barly a week into the mac world... I was wondering how to burn a data cd? either for a game or for back up data? I only know how to burn through iTunes not through anything else... Thanks

If needed i'm running the mac in my info (its my only one).

use Finder, put in a blank disc you'll then see the blank disc in the left pane just drag files/folders to it and then click the burn icon (yellow/black radioactive looking circle)

Another option is a commercial solution -- Toast Titanium. If you shop around you can get it for $50, and it's an awesome program that can burn all kinds of CDs and DVDs.

may I ask a stupid question, you open finder then put in a blank disc right? unlike most win apps you have to put in the blank disc first.

Thanks, I got the bone stock iBook so I could get it faster, and so far I haven't seen/felt the need to upgrade. Don't do video or graphics or play games. Mostly code (Perl), mail (Thunderbird) and surf (Camino).

ok, once again a dumb question, did you try a different blank CD. Once, I did this like 4 times before I gave up, and then I tried another blank CD and voila!

Sorry for the mix up but i think i fixed my problem. I went into system preferences and changed the menu so instead of "when i insert a blank cd open itunes" it now prompts me to chose an app and that seems to have fixed the problem, thanks for everyones help anyway

Another point for future reference: Choose Preferences from the Finder menu and click the Sidebar button to set what types of disks, etc you want to appear in the Sidebar.
