I was puzzled when the "Fast user Switching" didn't work on my father's Sawtooth G4--Running on 10.3.2

When I switched to another account login and the screen just blinks to another account's desktop. . It didn't roate the screen to another account's desktop. You know?

Any idea why??? Thanks!

Is your video card AGP with at least 16MB VRAM?

Yup; that's the problem. Your G4 doesn't support Quartz Extreme. Without QE, all you get is a fade-effect.

My old iMac DV doesn't have QE either ... just fades from one user to another.

Still probably been the most useful new feature of Panther for me ... I'd hate to go back to logging out of the 10-15 apps I normally have running whenever my roommate wants to check his Fantasy Football scores.

Well it's not so much an issue of G4, AGP or 16mb (all of which the sawtooth has) but it simply takes the power of a Radeon-based GPU to run QE, which the Rage128/pro cards do NOT have.......

So get dad a Radeon-based GPU, then it will work

Surely if it works on my trustry old PCI-based B&W & Rad7k, it'll work on a sawtooth
