i've hardly used screensavers, but way back in os9...

there were some shareware screensavers that played over the desktop, ie things moving over the desktop picture, warping it, etc.

anything like that in X? (10.3.2)

would like to see my desktop while running a screensaver...

thanx!

try this...
my aquarium saver looks extremely cool as the background using this app. Makes my fan spin like crazy but its pretty sweet to show off your mac to friends...

If I understand correctly, he's looking for the exact opposite:

A screensaver that will use the desktop, with all its open windows etc., as base image and then do things with that.

In OS 9, there were After Dark modules that would, for example, run a spotlight over the screen, or turn the whole screen into a puzzle game, or some such like.

fisherking, I don't use screensavers (have the screens shut off instead), but have you searched www.macupdate.com and www.versiontracker.com for screensavers and looked through those?

Oh yeah!! Windows 98 had a great one called "Science" that would make a bublle go over the whole desktop or it could swirl it.. Anyone know if there's anything like that for Mac?
