Grr.

Maybe it's already supposed to be this way, but, I'm about to kill somebody over this.

There are 2 settings for volume.

1. Alert Sounds which I have set at 25%
2. Overall Sound Volume which is controlled via the keyboard or the slider up in the menu bar.

I also have a nice set a Klipsch speakers that can actually produce a pretty loud volume in their own right.

I know I'm not the only one who has experienced the following.

So say, I'm listening to some music, and I like the music so I turn it up. The song ends, I don't think anything about it, but, my speakers are still turned up. Then I do something in an app that makes an alert sound go off, buring a disc in Toast comes to mind. Christ, the "ding" sound at 90db I DO NOT NEED.

All alert volumes should be treated as alert volumes and played at a reduced volume. WTF!?

Can it be like this? Is the alert volume accesible by application programers?

I want dual volume control damn it.

Nobody else has had their hair straightened by a 90db alert tone from an app?

I feel ya. Just can't say I've given it all that much thought tho. It was me who turned up the volume and forgot about it, after all. I suppose dual control would be cool. Like I said, I just never thought about it.
