so i download an image (.jpg) off the internet to my desktop...when i select the file in the finder (column view) it shows a preview...but the preview image is different then the image once it is opened (the preview image is shows more of the scene, uncropped)...???...what is going on here, does the file have an incorrect preview association or something?...thanks, using 10.3.1....

I think it depends on the software (and its prefs) that created the .jpg.

Open it in Graphic Converter. Check the GC prefs. You can choose the size, etc. of previews, icons, etc. That'll probably let you get the correct preview that you wanted associated with the .jpg.

PS: Although you can buy it - there is an "Apple" edition of GC that came with Panther (and Jag, too, if I remember correctly).
